Filming: first day

Today was the first day we filmed for our commercial. I had multiple roles and parts I had to play today. I was recording my groupmate haylie while she was on the penny board prop and I followed her while she was moving. I was also recording some of the pan shots and many of the shots that were taken under the bleachers. My group mates and I frequently switched filming. we all wanted to be in the commercial so we would switch off and pass the camera to each other so that we could all be in it. There is one shot where we are sitting on the bleachers all together, but for that particular shot we had to use a tripod. I believe that we followed the storyboard pretty well, but we had new invisions along the way. For example, like what angles to film at and how we should film it but that's all the changes we did. We did most of our filming today, but friday we might want to add a little more scenes to the intro and outro of our commercial.
My group and I went to about 4 locations today to film. We used the sidewalk that is near building 21 and chiefs classroom for the first scene. the first scene is where you see the vans shoe kick up the penny board and where we ride the penny board down the pathway. The first scene is very important to me because this is where you show off the shoe for the very first time. I also believe that using a "skateboard" or "penny board" helps with the image of vans and what they stand for. The second location we used is the bus loop in front of some of the trees that are in that area. I stood in front of the trees looking down while my group mates did a pan vertically starting from my shoes up. This shot helps highlight the shoes once again. The greenery in the background also helps highlight the somewhat white shoes. I thought that looking down would also help the shoes standout much more.
The third location that we went to was the track, here we did a pan of the bleachers with a groupmate sitting on it. The fourth location that we went to was under the bleachers, here was where most of the filming was. One of the groupmates was sitting under the bleachers while another was sitting on top with some of the shoe peeking out so that the camera could view it while recording. When I filmed this scene it was more difficult than the others because it was much harder to view the shoe on camera, than it was to see in person. I took many shots for this scene just to be sure that we hopefully got the right one. Most of today's filming was about an hour and fifteen minutes. After filming we went straight back to class to dump whatever was on our SD card. We also created a folder and put the footage on there. I also returned the tripod, camera and hall pass. I think that today was overall a pretty successful day and that I got a lot accomplished.
