Today we learned how to edit and how to use the cameras. We learned how to use the camera, the controls, and what accessories go with it. we learned how to use pinnacle which is the editing app we will use to edit our commercials and more. Before recording, you want to make sure that you have placed a SD card into the camera. To open the SD slot you push down lightly and it should just pop up. To turn on the camera you either open the screen or you find the on/off button. After that you just point your camera to whatever you want to film and press the button with a red line in it. To stop recording you will press the red button again. Make sure you take your SD card out when you are done filming, to prevent another person to record on ur card. It is recommended to take as many takes as you can because when the editing process begins you want to make sure you have enough takes so that if you don’t like a certain one you could use another take you took.
When you are done recording the editing process begins. Log into your computer and right click on the desktop to create a folder. The folder is where you will store most of your footage, this is important when you start editing in pinnacle. Whoever’s account you logged into the first time is the account you will log in each time you will edit so you can access the folder. now you will start the dumping process. everything from your SD card with be dumped into your folder. DCIM is where you will go to find all of your footage with dates and times already on it. You have to make sure that the dates and times on the camera match the dates and times on the DCIM so that the footage dates don’t get messed up. You will use the folder to import footage into pinnacle. This is how you will add footage to pinnacle so that you can edit it however you would like it to be.
Now to edit into pinnacle you will have to press on the tracks. The tracks are what “clips” or “runs” of your footage that is edited all together. To edit a particular clip you have to drag your footage bar to, track 2. Track 1 is for titles, track 3 is for sound. In track three this is where voiceovers take place and where you can place sound on top of your own audio. Track 3 is most important because in this track you can also edit your footage to make it shorter etc. In track 3 if you right click You can detach the audio from your clip, or mute it altogether. razor blade icon stops and starts your clip so that you can review your editing. The bold and all capitalized T is where you go to add a title. You simply click on the T write what you would like and choose your font, size, and color.
