Filming Blog: on hold :(

My group mates and I are not completely happy with our movie just yet. We all noticed that there
were still a few mistakes that had to be fixed. However, there is a new virus called COVID-19.
We cannot film at any moment right now because COVID-19 is very contagious. This virus is very dangerous, it has took the life of many people, and it is continuing to take lives. It has affected our state, county, and country. But it has also affected the world. Many companies are shut down due to this virus just to be safe. My school has been shut down until further notice because we don't want anybody to spread it, or gain it while at school.so it's going to be very difficult not being able to film with my group mates.Just like how the world is shut down, so are we.
Many filming companies have shut down too because international traveling is a very high risk area for actors and others.
Many movies have halted their releases, have pushed back their filming, and others have completely Canceled the film due to the area they were supposed to film.Releases like "sonic the hedgehog" and "jojo rabbit" have been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19. Walt Disney movie "Mulan" have stopped their production and they will continue as soon as this has passed. As for my group and I, we cannot see each other at this time.It is very dangerous to be going to see anyone else let alone be filming anywhere right now. We are staying connected to our teachers and cambridge to see what will be the next step. But we are still trying to perfect our movie.
stay safe!

Re-edit:Getting closer

After my group and I met up to reshoot certain scenes, we must do the editing process once again. one of the main scenes of opening a door needed to be re-shot, it’s difficult because that particular scene is right in the middle of our film. We are going to rewatch our film so that we know which shots I filmed would fit in best. Personally, I think that the best shots my groupmates and I should use is first, use a close-up shot of the character inserting the key into the door. For the second shot we do a mid shot of the character looking around in the room before opening the door. For the third shot I think that we should use the shot from inside the room of her looking around. And for the last and final shot I think that we should switch it back to where we saw her looking around the first time, but walking in. The whole time this scene is playing out, I believe that we should edit some music over it so that it creates a sense of suspense. This is what me and my roommates did, and what we are going to continue to do in our film. In the peer review, my group mates and I discussed what we needed to re-edit in our film. The peer review is very helpful because, now that we had other people view our film we have other opinions that are not anyone close to us or ourselves. The other scene that we ended up re-shooting we are not going to use it in our film. My groupmates and I think that the original opening scene we filmed was best. My main concern was that we were not going to have enough time for our titles, but it’s actually the opposite. The conditions were pretty much perfect. It made our actor’s Hair blow perfectly in the wind in the original shot. There were no cars passing in the background. There were no other background noises so editing is much easier with the original shot. Since that shot will be our title sequence it’s important that if we do edit it, it Has to look as smooth as possible. We don’t want it to be too much in the beginning.
See you again soon !!!

Re-shoot blog

Yesterday my groupmates and I decided that we wanted to reshoot some of our scenes. We weren’t obligated to reshoot any of our scenes. The group just wanted to make sure that we had everything. Even though we did have all of our scenes filmed, we agreed that certain scenes looked rushed. We filmed The opening scene once again just to make sure that that part is perfect. Also we wanted to make sure that we gave it enough time to add our titles. Another thing we tried doing yesterday was my group mates wanted me to film certain parts again but at completely different angles. The main scene we had to reshoot was when the main character was unlocking a door. Another reason we had to reshoot this particular scene was because people were talking in the background, which made it very difficult for us to put music over it. In the original, the part where the doors open looks rushed. Another thing is you cannot see the character open the door very well. We made sure that this scene we filmed multiple angles. This is so that later on when we are editing that part again, we can choose together which one we like best. Filming only took about two hours this time. we all met up at my apartment as well. Since this was after school, I think that we did a really good time with our time. I do not think that we will have to reshoot anything else after this. If we wanted to re-shoot anything we could once again, but I know for a fact that we won’t have to. Also in the scene where we open the door we made sure that the main character jingles the keys loudly so that we could hear it. We also had a close-up of her inserting the key, but at the moment we don’t know if we’re going to use that one or not. See you next time !

Editing blog: one step further

So far my group and I are very proud of our project. We have many things to continue to do. First off, we have to add our title sequence. We are making sure that we spend as much time as we can on this part. The title sequence really Has to pop and be correct. So far we have discussed doing bold letters, but not big bold letters, subtle ones. We were thinking of doing a color other than black but that is still not decided. While we filmed we made sure to leave a lot of extra time in the beginning to add the titles. We have about 5 to 15 seconds for our titles. That’s if we want it to be that long, if we want it to be longer we will have to edit more seconds unto it. If we need more time for our title sequence this could be a problem. In order to edit more into the beginning of our titles, we would have to cut more out of our film. We cannot do this because we already had to cut a lot. For example I was the secretary in our film, But we ended up having to cut my part out of it due to exceeding the amount of minutes. I was not upset about my part being cut out because it was not as important as other scenes in our film. Tomorrow my group and I are going to go over the final editing touches. We are going to double check that we have all the shots that are required. Also tomorrow we will decide if we want to redo certain shots. I don’t think that we will end up redoing it because we are very happy with what we have right now. Thank you and see you soon!

Peer review blog

Today was our peer review. We were assigned to a very nice and hard-working group. They were very easy going when we viewed their film. The transfers of film were very smooth too. One thing I really liked about their film was, their camera work was very good. They executed almost all of their shots perfectly. They also had almost all of the requirements. They were only missing two types of shots. Another thing about their film is, they used certain shots at the best moments. For example, they used an establishing shot perfectly, showing the certain house they were using in their film.
One suggestion I would like to make to the people I’m peer reviewing is, their sound. They had no non-diagenetic sound in their film. I believe that they should add some music in the background or any type of soft sound. The biggest thing I would say is that throughout their film the sound is not even. It sounds like many different things are going on in the background. When the film first starts you can hear wind blowing and other sounds that shouldn’t be in it. They did have a diegetic sound in their film which is very good. Also they need to even out the sounds. Although they did use the diegetic sounds, it would be very loud or very low which seem to not fit in the film. Other than that I would say that their film was wonderful, and was very close to being done.

Editing blog: coming all together

After filming last week, I felt extremely happy because we are one step closer to being done with our final project. Today in class my groupmates and I discussed editing. We first had to shorten our video. Our movie came out to be around Two minutes and 35 seconds. This was way too much for our movie. We had to cut certain scenes out of our movie that we didn’t want to but we had to. This way We could fit the main parts into our movie. But sadly we had to cut my scene out of the movie. There’s no longer a scene in which I hand them the keys. This however is not a big deal because the movie can still continue even without my role. Another scene we had to cut out was the elevator scene. This scene consisted of The main character walking to where the office is. This also was not a big deal to cut out because it doesn’t have a lot of impact on our movie, the main character will get to the office anyway even if we don’t show it.
We also watched our movie together as a whole today. We wrote all of the shots that are needed in the film and check them off one by one. We made notes as to whether we should re-shoot certain parts, or if we should keep it how it was. It was really cool seeing it all together and edited somewhat. The next thing we have to do is design our titles. This is going to be tricky because we want this to really stand out, but also fit the theme of our movie. But my group mates and I are very artistic and will be able to come up with it very easily.
